I managed to squeeze in another game guide before I pack up and head to PA for a week to visit my cousins. Cross your fingers the storms out there go away so I'm not cooped up inside all week with my younger cousins… My volunteer work at Homeboys is so rewarding - it feels great to know you might be helping to change someone's life. I really think that all large cities should incorporate this type of program; maybe then we could make a change in today's youth before it's too late. While the internship at LA Times is interesting, it's not quite as rewarding. But then again, I don't actually get to write articles for print, I'm more of a assistant but it's still interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes. But enough about me and on to the game guides! When I saw the release of Hidden Expedition: Amazon, I just had to write a guide for it. This is the third game in the series and as always, features spectacular graphics, great game play, and excellent storyline. The puzzles are challenging but if you find them too difficult, that's why I wrote a game guide! In this installment you play the part of a great adventurer who is trying to find a missing professor and the lost Beetle (not Beatles, heehaw) Temple. Sounds a bit bizarre, perhaps, but makes for a great story with a very humorous Professor and a great excuse to immerse you the sights and sounds of... the Amazon! You probably won't hear from me for a few weeks but I promise to find some time to bring you another guide when I get back. There is some promising new HOG coming out soon that I'll be watching closely. If you have any games you'd like to see guides for, don't hesitate to a-mail us and ask - we'll do our best to fulfill your gaming needs! Wishing everyone from the United States a Happy 4th! Be safe!

Wedding Dash 2 Review
|

My little boy, Max, was the ring bearer in wedding this weekend. He looked so adorable in his little three-piece tux! It's amazing they can make those so small. He was a little nervous but he took his responsibilities very seriously, and he did a great job! Weddings are so great, so much excitement and energy around them. And it's fun to see the couple put some of their personalities and backgrounds into the various aspects of the wedding. Our friends really did that well this past weekend.
So when I started playing Wedding Dash 2: Rings Around the World this weekend, I already had weddings on my mind. And the game lived up to my expectations. It focuses on the reception instead of the ceremony, but you get to pick the decorations and the menu. And you need to try and cater to each couple's taste and personality. Then when the reception starts, you need to make sure the guests sit where they want and next to the people they want. And of course you need to make sure they are well fed. Afterward, if all is done right, they'll get up on the dance floor and boogie down the rest of the night.
Wedding Dash 2 definitely does not disappoint. The graphics are very cute; they all have their own style of dance moves. And the variety of options for planning the event are a lot of fun. The back story also adds another element of game play, since you are having to compete with other wedding coordinators to win a contest. I would recommend giving Wedding Dash 2 a try. It will definitely keep you on your toes!

The Clumsy's Cheats and Walkthrough

Hey all HOG fans! How's your summer going? I'm finding sometime in-between my volunteering and internship to play some games.
I just finished the Clumsy's and wow, what a game! It's by the same creators as "Escape the Museum" and "Hidden Object Show." Great graphics, challenging, 100 levels, and fun! If you weren't sure whether or not you wanted to buy the game, I really suggest you do - it has some unique modes of play never seen before in any other HOG.
In one mode of play, they don't give you the items to find. Instead, you have find items that do not belong in that time period - and oh yeah - I forgot to mention - you time travel. Some of these can be a challenge since we’re so used to seeing these items in our everyday lives. A leather armchair in Lincoln’s office - looked like it fit in the picture to me. There are three other unique modes of play but I don't want to spoil it for you.
I'll be going to Pennsylvania in about two weeks – even though the heat has been brutal in LA the past week, I’m hoping there’s no rain by the time I arrive. My cousins said there’s been nothing but cool weather and rain for a week now. Hopefully I’ll be able to get one more guide to you before I go!
Speaking of which, I hope you enjoy this one and find it useful.

Sally's Spa Review
|
By

My most favorite indulgence ever (besides maybe chocolate) has got to be a trip to the spa. There's nothing like a little spa pampering to melt away the stress and leave you feeling refreshed. And now that I have a child, it's that time away that helps me regroup a little and restores my energy so that I have more to give to my family. I may not go very often, but the times I do are times well spent.
So when I saw that the game, Sally's Spa, had been released, I naturally had to give it a try. And I loved it! In fact, I couldn't stop playing it! The graphics are wonderful, even the ones that transition from one part of the game to the next are excellently done. And though it's still similar to most time management games in that you have to perform a set of tasks in a given amount of time, the tasks are quite varied in type and amount of time each takes. Each customer goes through a set of treatments instead of just coming for one treatment and then leaving. And each treatment is different in what it requires for you to do. The game also offers many options of upgrades for your spa, which are lots of fun.
I definitely recommend giving Sally's Spa a try, whether you are new to time management games or a pro. Or maybe you might want to live vicariously through the customers like I did! :)

Hell's Kitchen Review
|
By
lara

It's confession time for Lara again... Hello. My name is Larissa (Lara for short) and I am a reality show addict. ((sigh)) Yes. It's true. For the life of me, I just cannot understand why some people will subject themselves to humiliation in order to win some prize or get on TV... but as long as there are people like that in the world, I'm gonna watch 'em!!!
Now that you know this, you can imagine my delight when I saw the new "Hell's Kitchen" casual game. Finally! I get a chance to test my mettle in Gordon Ramsey's kitchen without suffering the national embarrassment! Whee!
Even if you are only an occasional viewer of this show, I strongly urge you to give this game a try! First of all, the graphics are AWESOME! Whoever designed this game must be a fan of The SIMS because everything has that smooth, Sims-like quality about it that really makes gameplay enjoyable.
The object of the game is much like that of the show. Prepare exquisite food and try to keep your patrons happy. Easier said than done. When the game first begins, you get a little lecture from Gordo himself about what he expects from you and what he'll do if he doesn't get it. At first, I thought, "No problem!" but let me tell you; I have a whole new respect for the people who go on that show because as soon as he started berating me, I cracked!
I may not be a world-class chef, but I know how to play casual games. I'd like to think I'm good at it but when Ramsey started showing disdain for my cooking timing, things went for bad to worse!
As both head waiter and cook, you have to play two important roles in this game. You must first seat your tables and take their orders, then switch to the kitchen and cook it while switching back to the dining room to seat more guests, clear tables and take more orders.
In homage to the show, it's all about timing. Each dish calls for a different combination of ingredients, which need to be prepared first, and a certain amount of cooking time. This game really challenges both your time management and puzzle solving skills, especially when there's more than one dish and more than one cooking time. The key is to add some ingredients but not ~all~ ingredients at specific intervals so you have time to prepare more ingredients in order to get everything to finish cooking at the exact same time. Leaving a pan on the stove too long burns it. Leaving a finished dish on a plate too long cools it. Either way, unless your timing is impeccable, you'll incur the wrath of Ramsey! Oh, and did I mention that you can only prepare each set of ingredients one at a time?
Oh, and did I mention that you need to constantly check on your dining guests at the same time in order to keep them from leaving?
Oh, and did I mention that each table will order twice? (entree and dessert)
Oh, and did I mention that as the game progresses, you'll have to seat more and more customers and cook with more and more ingredients?
Yeah... I think you get my point. Even if you are not a fan of the show, I urge you (from a gamer's point of view) to download and play Hell's Kitchen because it is ~definitely~ one of the more challenging games out there!
... and let me tell you; just like the show, when you do it right, there's nothing better than hearing Ramsey compliment you on a job well done!
Oh, and did I mention that each level unlocks an actual gourmet recipe from Ramsey's cookbook that you can print out and keep for your very own?
Yeah. That little bonus makes purchasing this game MORE than worth it! Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got some ~serious~ cooking to do.

How to Choose the Best HOG
|
By
anne
06/14/2008
|
That is, Hidden Object Game. With the ever growing popularity of HOG’s, how do you know which one is right for you. It seems that nearly every casual game developer out there is churning them out daily. We see at least one new one a week and sometimes, one almost every day. Some people will play each and every one, others of us are more picky or just don’t have the money. I personally like a HOG that’s giving me the most game for my buck, or rather, my $6.99. So I pick my HOG’s by three standards: - Game Play – is it unique, does it have puzzles, or is it a straight HOG?
- Graphics – are they beautiful, cute, eye catching, boring, or way too cluttered which is something I find a lot in HOG’s.
- Storyline – does it have an interesting and intriguing storyline?
The following games are the best of the best (in my opinion) in all three categories. However, since we’ve been seeing many new variations of HOG’s with puzzles, I’ve broken them down into two categories for you.
Straight HOG – a HOG that has little to no puzzles, mostly seek and find. - Mystery Case Files (MCF) Prime Suspects
- MCF Huntsville
- MCF Ravenhearst
- Hidden Expedition: Titanic
- Hidden Expedition: Everest
- Big City Adventure: San Francisco
- Big City Adventure: Sydney
- Miss Teri Tale
- Nightshift Code
Puzzle HOG – a HOG that has multiple puzzles, an adventure aspect, or unique game play (my personal favorite category). - The Clumsy’s (walkthrough coming soon, keep your eyes peeled)
- Hidden Object Show
- Agatha Christie: Peril At End House
- Agatha Christie: Death on the Nile
- Can You See What I See?
- Sherlock Holmes: Mystery of the Persian Carpet
- Dream Chronicles 1 & 2
- Natalie Brooks: Secrets of Treasure House
- Escape the Museum
- James Patterson Women’s Murder Club: Death In Scarlet
- Hidden Secrets: Nightmare
- MCF: Madame Fate
- Azada
To download these games, go to the hidden object games category. If you still can’t decide which HOG to play then I suggest you do as I do. Scoot over to Big Fish Games, click on Hidden Object category, find one that sounds interesting to you and DL the 1 hour demo. If after a few minutes you’re hooked, then it’s for you, if after an hour you’re bored silly, pass on it. Contrary to popular belief, I have not played each and every HOG out there so you may have played a game that you think deserves to be in these categories. Don’t be afraid to give us a shout and give us a mini review of why you think the game should be on this list and we’ll add your personal review. We love hearing from our members. I hope this article has helped you and happy gaming! And remember, you can always find the latest HOG games in our hidden object games category.

Women's Murder Club: Death is Scarlet Cheats

I thought I'd start the summer out right and get into a good murder mystery. No – not a book, a game of course! Women's Murder Club: Death In Scarlet is based on the award winning books by James Patterson and this game really delivers. This game kept me so intrigued it really was like reading a good book. I highly recommend it to everyone. I'm sure you'll enjoy the plot twists as much as I did.
I would have to say this game is one of the best games I've played in a while. It combines a nice mix of puzzles with hidden object. The puzzles are fun without being too hard. The game allows replay since most of the puzzles and hidden objects change with each game.
One of the reasons I needed a good game is to get a break from what is already shaping up to be a pretty intense summer. I landed an internship at the LA Times (just for a couple weeks helping out with campaign research) and I also started volunteering with Zavy at Homeboy Industries. Seeing the issues these youth face everyday really puts my own small problems into perspective.
I also have plans to travel to PA next month to visit some cousins, and in August, my parents are taking a break from the ranch and we plan to rent a cabin in Colorado and just chillin' out, sadly with NO COMPUTERS! *shudders*
However, no matter how busy I might get, I'll always be here to bring the latest in HOG guides!
I hope the Women's Murder Club guide is helpful and keep an eye out for my next one!
If you need to beat the heat, turn on the air and play a game!

Tower Bloxx: Great game!

The world of casual games can get repetitive. It's nice to see something new. Tower Bloxx fits that category. This game requires you to build towers by aligning building blocks that swing precariously from a crane.
This game will hook you in right away. I also found this game relaxing because there is no resource management to deal with... there is no penalty for building a new tower over another one and no real time constraints to deal with. So you can take your time and experiment with different puzzle solutions.
